   Going Sky high with Skyfall!

Challenge

Skyfall, the most successful installment of the James Bond Franchise, grossing over $1 billion in theatres, was premiering on Sony Pix. Clearly, to break it in digital and social it demanded a campaign that’s worthy of the staggering benchmark that the movie has set. Skyfall’s debut on Indian television called for a thrilling digital experience for our audience.

Strategy

Our market strategy was to intrigue the audience by transcending the thrill seen on celluloid into the digital environment for our audience. Our target audience loves gaming and decided to leverage this insight to create a one of a kind experience for the TV debut of Skyfall.

So, we thought of a solution that married bond’s thrill quotient and gaming. For the first time in India, Users could convert their mobile phones into a joystick and complete some interesting missions, all in an interactive banner. The shooting game we created is controlled by the users smartphone: They could literally convert their smartphone into a remote controlled gun and shoot the enemy.

Execution

A weblink on the banner helped the users sync their mobile phones to their desktop screens and engage with a shooting game. The development involved setting up of a special dedicated Node server with Node.JS and Socket.io to create real time communication. The front end was a combination of Flash , Php and HTML 5 that brought alive the experience to the User

Results

Results An over-whelming response with Top of mind recall resulting into the Highest* viewership rating in the 1pm time slot across English Movie Channels on that very same day. In addition, it crossed over a thirty million in impression and resulted in clicks that clocked over two hundred thousand.
